Who are we?

The Science and Literature Reading Group is run in association with the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge.

Each term we select a set of texts on a given theme. Past topics have included 1919, frogs, literary technologies, relativity theory, contemporary poetry, short stories about doctors, and science and drama. We have just completed a series of meetings on the elements, discussing fire, air, water, earth, and aether. At our seminars a brief introduction to the readings is followed by informal discussion.

The group welcomes anybody who is interested in exploring the relations between literature and science, technology or medicine to join in our meetings.
